Michelle Farinella – Owner – Director – Instructor
Michelle Farinella is the owner, director and instructor of Dance Dimensions by Michelle, now in its 25th Anniversary year!
Michelle began dancing at age 2 and her family-oriented studio serves aspiring professional dancers as well as others with a more recreational interest. She has studied ballet, pointe, lyrical, tap, jazz, modern, gymnastics, hip-hop, baton, musical theater and liturgical genres of dance.
A lifelong Sussex County resident, Michelle was named Miss Andover Township. She attended St. Francis de Sales College, where she graduated with a degree in dance and theater with a business minor. She continues her dance education taking classes throughout the tri-state area at the prestigious Steps and Broadway Dance Centers in NYC. Michelle also attends Dance Teacher Seminar (DTS) in NYC among others.
Prior to starting her business in 1993, Michelle toured with the dance company “Le Tour de Danse,” worked as a runway model at LA Fashion Mart, appeared in a national television series “P.S.I. Love You” and sang at the Bob Hope Center in California. Dance Dimensions by Michelle has performed at the New Jersey State Fair in Augusta, the Lake Mohawk Country Club, the Lake Mohawk Golf Club, Hershey Park, The NJ Devils and Walt Disney World.
Her students have appeared in Broadway’s Billy Elliot, in television sitcoms and commercials, in New York City modern companies, in the Virginia Ballet, runway modeling and print work, among other venues.
Michelle is a 26 year member, and currently secretary of the Greater New York chapter of the National Association of Dance & Affiliated Arts (NADAA) and national vice-president, a non-profit organization founded in 1949 with workshops and instructional services for dance professionals and their students.
Madison Washer – Tap, Jazz & Musical Theater Instructor
Madison has danced with various competitive dance teams throughout Pennsylvania and New Jersey since the age of three. In addition to dance, Madison has a passion for performing and has been doing so for the past 20 years. She has been cast in various theatre companies throughout New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania. Upon graduation from High School, Madison continue her education by studying at Westminster Choir College as a voice performance major and dance minor. Here she attended Princeton Ballet and trained with various teachers throughout the studio. She then transferred and graduated with a BFA in Musical Theatre and dance concentration from Montclair State University. In addition to performing Madison was also a contestant in the Miss America preliminary rounds for Miss New Jersey and Miss Pennsylvania. Most recently Madison was seen as Mary Poppins in the YArts Production of Mary Poppins the musical. Other recent productions and roles include, Ms. Fleming in NY Regional Premier of Heathers, Percy Talbott, Spitfire Grill, Wendy in the NJ premier of Wendy’s Shadow and the Witch in Into the Woods. When Madison is not performing she runs her own Event Business, Events from Head to Toe and runs all of the Youth Activities and events at the Montclair Golf Club. Madison has been teaching dance lessons since she was 16 years old and is super excited to continue her adventure at Dance Dimensions and looks forward to making new memories!
Ina VanVooren – Acro Instructor
Ina began dancing at the age of eight at Dance Dimensions and continued dancing right through college as a studio alumni. She trained at Dance Dimensions in Ballet, Pointe, Lyrical, Tap, Jazz, Hip-Hop and Acro. As a student she attended The Rockette Experience and performed at Hershey Park. Ina is a graduate of Centenary College with a B.S. in Equine Science and a concentration in Business Management. In addition she also holds several NJ teaching certifications, which she obtained through Centenary’s teaching program. While at Centenary her passion for dance lead her to continue her dance training by taking college dance classes.
Marissa Ciancitto – Summer Dance Intensive Instructor
Marissa has been dancing for over twelve years and quickly fell in love with the art. She has studied hip hop, ballet, modern, lyrical, jazz, tap and musical theater. Marissa is a graduate of High Point High School, where she took part as a dancer and dance captain in the school musical productions. She is currently a student at the County College of Morris, dual majoring in Liberal Arts for Humanities and Social Sciences and Dance. At the County College of Morris she continues her education and love for dance and theater. She plans to continue her dance education at a four year college after CCM and is excited to start teaching and creating bonds early in her career.
Sundae Yonkers – Baton Instructor
Sundae began dancing and baton twirling at the age of 12 at Dance Dimensions by Michelle and continued dancing right through high school. Even though she did not continue with dance, she did continue twirling on her own through adulthood. Sundae is a graduate of Fairleigh Dickinson University with a B.S. in Marine Biology. After college, Sundae went back to school for teaching and has been an Elementary School Teacher for the past 10 years.
Emily Arney – Hip Hop Instructor
Emily Arney is currently attending Montclair State University to receive her Bachelor’s Degree as well as a certification in Physical Education with a Dance Minor. She received her Associates in Fine Arts for Dance from the County College of Morris in May of 2018. Not only has she been dancing since elementary school, she has also participated and worked on multiple musical productions. Emily is the assistant choreographer at Mount Saint Dominic Academy, the junior choreographer at Trinity Academy and also the dance team moderator at Mount Saint Dominic Academy. She has been a part of these production teams for over 3 years. She has assistant choreographed their productions of The Boyfriend, Peter Pan, 42nd Street, and Bye Bye Birdie and has choreographed Trinity Academy’s productions of Thoroughly Modern Millie, Godspell and Shrek the Musical. Emily also had the opportunity to perform at the 42nd Street Y in NYC with the Garden State Dance Company in their Hip Hop/Modern performance of Alchemy. From working on these productions and coaching her dance team while attending school, she has realized she has a strong passion for teaching dance and is very excited to be part of the Dance Dimensions by Michelle team!
